Printing Technology was initially developed to be used on paper. Paper was easily carried around, and printers had to be large enough to fit into a vehicle, bus, or train, especially during the industrial revolution of the nineteenth century. Then you would first layer this on the steel and then finish the edges with a layer of clear. Once the plans are complete, the printer would take these blueprints and convert them into solid diagrams, which is the layer upon layer of blue, and then print them out on paper.

Other printers use heat to print things on the outside of the material. For example. You can write an image onto glass, and the heat from the light inside the glass would melt the ink into the shape of the picture.

Printing technology has also changed over the years. As the world has changed, so have the reasons people want printed items. In the past, it wasn't straightforward to write things on large sheets of paper. Such as books, because they were difficult to see, and the pages often faded when taken out of the printer.
